Freeport
Situated on the northeast end of Choctawhatchee Bay, Freeport is a thriving and fast-growing community. Founded in the 1830s by settlers, Freeport gained its current day name during the Civil War as there was literally no charge to dock at the harbor area.
Offering plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities, Freeport provides easy access to boating, fishing, and other water activities on Choctawhatchee Bay. Additionally, nearby state parks and nature preserves offer hiking, bird-watching, and camping opportunities. Freeport is also a short distance to the beautiful beaches and stunning coastal area of the Emerald Coast.
